Overview
We are looking at the Razer Blackshark V2 wired version. There is a wireless Blackshark but we want to focus on the wired version as it offers great sound quality at a really good price.
Build quality, sound quality and comfort. The major things you want in a headset this has, as well as a relatively subtle design, this headset is an excellent choice.

In-depth
Surprisingly from Razer we have a headset which has a design aesthetic you could refer to as quite subtle no crazy lighting or crazy design. The headset is a simple black with some coloured detailing of the logo and wires, it looks really good!
Build wise the headset uses a fair bit of metal giving it a more premium feel with the headband covered in a nice soft foam and mesh wrap. The range adjustment is pretty big too meaning these should fit a wide variety of head sizes and shapes pretty well. The earcups are made with memory foam and a faux leather and mesh fabric meaning its super soft and provides a decent seal which should deal with annoying audio leak found in other headsets.
The external controls are kept simple here with a volume control and mic mute button located for easy of use and the volume knob is really prominent without looking silly which is a plus point for usability. The rest of the headsets features are handled in the Razer Synapse software.

The software allows EQ customisation and access to the mic settings the app itself isnt too bad and is easy enough to use. Back to the headset itself and using it for extended periods is absoutely fine, lightweight and comfy cups mean extended day long gaming sessions leave little fatigue.
The Razer Blackshark also has surround sound for PC gaming, however, like most headsets this does not transfer to console because of how the surround sound is handled. It works well on PC though and does allow you to easily pick out sounds in game.
Overall the sound is pretty stand out for a headset in this price range, probably one of better choices, the isolation is very good and on par with headsets twice its price. Otherwise the frequency response is kept relatively natural with maybe a litle bit less low end than people might be used to but the clarity is fantastic.
Same goes for using these for music, the overall sound is great but if you are used to the bass enhanced frequency of many other headsets you might feel this is lacking. Still it doesn't take long to adjust to and in our opinion a more natural sound like this is always better than bass enhanced headsets which can create a muddiness to the sounds.
The mic while not great isnt bad either, you will find your voice is clear and detailed its just not on the level of more higher end mics so dont expect that BBC radio sound.
Overall this is probably one of the top wired headsets in its price range and can even compete with much more expensive headsets in terms of audio and isolation, buying a set of the Razer Blackshark V2 will not disappoint.
